Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that Edward So has joined the Firm as a partner in its Global Capital Markets Practice. Based in New York, Ed will focus on advising clients on derivatives and structured products, and will work closely with the Firm's Financial Institutions Industry Group.

"Ed's background in advising his clients on a range of derivatives and structured products will allow White & Case to build upon our established expertise in those areas," said John Vetterli, White & Case's Head of Americas Capital Markets. "Ed's work with private equity and asset managers, corporate end-users and other market participants has been exemplary, and we will benefit from his experience and relationships in the market not just in New York, but across our global network."

Ed focuses on a broad variety of domestic and cross-border over-the-counter derivatives transactions over a wide spectrum of asset classes, including cash and synthetic fixed income, rates, equity, credit, commodity and FX products. He also frequently advises clients on futures, OTC clearing and prime brokerage documentation, as well as related netting, margin and other regulatory issues. Ed's practice includes interpretation and implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act and related regulations affecting broker-dealers, futures commission merchants, investment funds, end-users and other participants in the securities, futures and swaps markets. He also has experience assisting clients in the derivatives aspects of financing, dispute resolution and mergers and acquisitions.

Ed comes to White & Case from Paul Weiss, where he provided financial institutions on both the buy-side and sell-side with transactional and regulatory advice on derivatives and structured products. Ed started his career at Davis Polk and previously held business and legal roles at Barclays Bank's Prime Financing and Agency Derivatives Services business.

"Ed's experience will immediately benefit our clients," said Ian Cuillerier, Head of White & Case's Global Derivatives Interest Group. "His combination of transactional and regulatory expertise will give us the opportunity to deepen and expand relationships, including in equity derivatives and structured products areas."
